I recently completed a project for Simone who runs a business called Bella Rae, which sells makeup supplies online through Woocommerce. After speaking with Simone she told me that he plans to give 100% of the profits from the bussines to charity – something which I thought was pretty cool. I could also see that Simone is just an everday person trying to make a difference in this world so I wanted to understand why and how she is planning on running her online business:
1 – Tell me a brief bit about the business and what it is doing?
Bella Rae is not just another makeup brand. At the heart of Bella Rae is true beauty. My heart is to help everyday women look and more importantly feel beautiful.
I have created a range of makeup palette’s and brushes that I believe are simple to use, eliminate excess and stimulate creativity.
Bella Rae is an online cosmetic company with a difference. We empower our customer to take charge of their creativity by with our CREATE YOUR OWN feature developed by Rhys (the IT Team).
It is a fun and interactive way to create a makeup palette that is specific to you, no longer do you need to buy a makeup palette and only use a few colours.
With Bella Rae’s CREATE YOUR OWN palette you can choose from eye shadow, blush, concealer, corrector, lipstick, bronzer and highlighter, which can all, be fitted in our convenient slim line magnetic everyday palette, ad it to our Bella Range clutch with brushes and you have everything you need to top up with during a busy day out.
2 – What made you decide to do it?
For the past 13 years I have been working as a makeup artist on the beautiful Gold Coast, Australia and serving our city in different Pastoral roles. I have a huge passion to live my life creatively expressing the things I love whilst making a difference doing it.
I believe in women; I believe we have a huge capacity to love and nurture and I am convinced that as we use these two natural abilities hand in hand we can change the world!
This is why Bella Rae Cosmetics gives 100% of our profit to charities locally and globally who are working to help, support and empower women and children in need.
3 – What charities are you looking to feature?
For the months of December and January our charity of choice is A21. 100% of all Bella Rae Cosmetics’ profits will be donated to the incredible, life-changing work done at A21.
The A21 Campaign is a global anti-human trafficking organisation dedicated to eradicating modern-day slavery in the 21century. With 12 offices in ten countries around the world, A21 works tirelessly to rescue, restore, and rebuild the lives of human trafficking victims. Human life is invaluable and A21 will not stop until the 27 million men, women, and children trapped in slavery are set free.
4 – I’ve noticed you are pretty handy at social media, a lot of my clients want to do social but dont know how – any tips?
I focus most of my attention on instagram as it is mostly visual and is basically an online blog.
My tips
- Have clear branding- chose a style and group of colours you want to work with. You want your page to have a consistency about it.
- Don’t do what everyone else is doing, this is just my personality but I prefer to lead not follow. Being original may take more time to attract attention but eventually you will stand out from the crowd.
- Engage with your audience, don’t just post pictures and descriptions of product and services, talk to you customer and get them to talk back- ask questions or create a hash-tag that is specific to your business.
5 – Whats the future for BR?
I am hugely passionate about empowering women, helping those in need and skincare and cosmetics so my plan is to build and build big so I can fund these projects.
I want to partner with charities monthly that help, support and empower women and children in need. In the near future this will be something I get charities to apply for and build a long term relationship with them.
A skincare line will be added to the brand at some time too.
I will be focusing a great deal on the blog and interviewing real everyday women who are doing amazing things with their lives for the benefit of others. By doing this I hope to encourage my readers to live their lives beyond themselves. We can all be doing so much more to help those less fortunate than us.
