Speeding up Shopify
Out of the box Shopify is pretty fast but it can be improved – in some cases halving the website loading time, this usually translates to more money for the shop owner – but you already know this 😉
Start with fonts
Page weight before this step: 1.8mb
This is probably (hopefully) fixed on more modern themes but on the particular one that I was working on the site still loaded .otf font formats. One font in particular came in around 300kb Gzipped!
I downloaded the font, ran it through fontfacegenerator and uploaded the woff and woff2 versions
