What’s the deal with Google Apps Error #1000

When setting up new google apps account (which is something we do quite regularly) one of the most important things that I always like to get out of the way early is DKIM authentication for emails. However when trying to set this up on a new account I always seems to get this error:

So whats the deal?

As far as I can tell this seems to happen with:

  • New accounts
  • Accounts without billing setup (trial accounts)

Watch this space – im going to test this by asking one of my clients on trial to put in their billing details and see if the problem goes away.

When it goes bad

Once I had a client with this error permanently occuring – and google couldnt seem to help. My advice would be to check that the DKIM authentication is working before proceeding with migrating emails etc.
